National Informatics Centre (NIC) of the Department of Information Technology is providing network backbone and e-Governance support to Central Government, State Governments, UT Administrations, Districts and other Government bodies. It offers a wide range of ICT services including Nationwide Communication Network for decentralised planning, improvement in Government services and wider transparency of national and local Governments. NIC assists in implementing Information Technology Projects, in close collaboration with Central and State Governments, in the areas of (a) Centrally sponsored schemes and Central sector schemes, (b) State sector and State sponsored projects, and (c) District Administration sponsored projects. NIC endeavours to ensure that the latest technology in all areas of IT is available to its users.
National Informatics Centre, Ballari District Centre
National Informatics Centre, Ballari, a unit of Premier IT organisation of the country was established in the year 1988 with an aim to provide computerisation support to the local government system. The offices were set up in Zilla Panchayat Office Premises and District Magistrate's office. The initial task was to generate computer awareness among the local government officials and encourage them to use NICNET communication facility. NIC Ballari has come a long way since its inception. The district unit is involved in various computerisation Projects catering the needs of the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat and other state/central government departments.

  • Land Records Computerisation (Bhoomi) - for Revenue Department
  • Panchatantra - An Integrated Accounts package for Grama Panchayat - for RDPR Department
  • Rantion Card Computerisation - Issuing, Modification, Cancellation of Ration Cards - for Food Department
  • eCourts (Case Information System) - fully computerised system for district courts and sub-ordinate courts.
  • Nadakacheri (Revenue Services Delivery System) - Impleneted in all the hobli's (nadakacheri's) for timely delivery of around 40 citizen services under Revenue Department.
  • Bhagyalakshmi - Issuing and Tracking of Insurance Bonds of girl children in BPL families for ICDS Department.
  • FIST(Finance and Stock Accounting System) - an Integrated package for monitoring the food grains for pds under Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Corporation, which was impleted in all the warehouses of KFCSC.
  • e-Yojane - for preparing District Budget Estimates for next Financial Year - RDPR Department.
  • DPEXMON - Monitoring of plan expenditure by District Planning Department(RDPR Department)
  • VATSoft - An Integrated System for Commercial Department Operations including Regitration of TIN, COT, Filing Returns, Generating Notices, Way Permits etc.
  • Apart from the above projects, NIC always plays a key role during Election Related Actives both pre-poll which include Randomisation and Deployment of polling staff, EVM Randomisation, Micro Observs Deployment and post-poll activities includes transmitting poll statistics ,counting of votes and transmitting the results instantaneously to all the stake holders.
